At Bandicoot Blu Farm Products, we’re proud to offer premium, chemical-free food grown on our family-run property on Tasmania’s east coast.  We produce ethically raised grass-fed beef and lamb, as well as nutrient-rich blueberries — all farmed using sustainable, nutrition-based practices that support soil health, animal wellbeing, and future generations.

Our unique farming methods focus on mineral-balanced soils, lush pastures, and minimal intervention.  The result?  Food that’s not only delicious, but genuinely good for you.

Our Philosophy

We believe food should be:

  • Grown without chemicals or preservatives

  • Ethical and sustainable, from soil to stock

  • Rich in nutrients, flavour, and integrity

For over 20 years, we’ve practised biological and nutritional farming - improving drought resistance, reducing pest pressures, and producing vibrant animals and crops without synthetic inputs.

We care for the whole ecosystem - from microbes in the soil to wildlife in the paddocks.  And we believe in giving back what we take: if nutrients are removed through harvest, they must be replaced to maintain soil and animal health.

Ethically Raised, Naturally Fed

All our animals are raised on the farm and enjoy:

  • A natural, grass-fed diet (grown on-site)

  • Supplementary feed (like hay) produced on the property to eliminate contamination

  • No antibiotics or grain feed

  • Ethical processing at a small, local abattoir just 20 minutes away

  • Respectful whole-animal use — including nutrient-dense slow-cook cuts

We value our animals and honour them by making use of the whole animal — not just the premium cuts.  While steaks are often seen as the star of the show, many of the most nourishing and flavourful meals come from the lesser-known cuts: think slow-cooked roasts, hearty stews, and offal.

Because we process just one animal at a time, availability is limited - but every cut has its place and purpose.  When prepared well, each offers something truly special.

Soil Health & Nutritional Farming

We test our soils and crops regularly, using independent labs and experts like Nutri-Tech Solutions to guide balanced nutrient inputs.

Key practices include:

  • Leaf and Brix testing (sugar content) to track crop health and flavour

  • Foliar sprays and fertigation with trace minerals and compost teas

  • Use of humic acid, kelp, liquid fish, and beneficial fungi & bacteria

  • Restoring minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and selenium — all in ratios proven to benefit both plants and humans

We aim for the same mineral ratios in our soils as those required by the human body - for example, a calcium-to-magnesium balance of 7:1.  After all, if the minerals aren’t present in the soil, they won’t be in the food - and that means they won’t make it into our bodies either.

We also focus on fostering healthy biology beneath the surface.  Beneficial fungi and bacteria form a powerful symbiotic relationship with plant roots, helping break down organic matter, unlock nutrients, and protect against disease.  When the soil is alive and balanced, the food it produces is naturally more flavourful, resilient, and nutrient-dense - just as nature intended.
